Creature design

For a 10 minute sequence in the upcoming animation feature film 'ARJUN', i designed a monster character. it combines features and personalities of 2-3 animals. a very interesting process that started from wildlife gazing and took me through model making, colour palettes, and so much more....
a fun extensive project!

prodigious glee

the time of the year where blues are my pinks! the dark sky cover, the vast stretches of water, the gloomy atmosphere, the turbulent sea and the bleak faces. it brings torment to many and worry to the rest. but it brings me pure joy and pleasure! a sight i wait for, all year long! people fishing by the road, snakes and fishes swimming through these water clogged lanes, holidays declared! nothing can be compared to monsoon in my hometown!

'move on'

i sit here amidst the wind trying to reach the endlessness of the horizon. the calm sea beneath my dangling feet as against the harsh wind lashing my face. one trying to threaten me by its force, while the other just present all around me -in her calm disguise. sitting here amongst the hundreds of dried fishes lying around me, i stare at the silent dark water playing beneath my feet and she just stares back, still playful and more, scaring me. she is calm, just because of the dark silence she hides beneath. playful on the surface as if showing off, trying to intimidate. she hides it underneath. sometimes a little too irresisitible a secret. he fell for it. misjudged the sea to be as naive. little did he know that not all intentions were as genuine. he still doesnot understand. i stare at the horizon. its all around me. yet there seems to be no direction she's taken him to. he's still out there. hopefully having found his happiness. what is this place? the endless stretch of horizon, wrapped in the playful curls of the sea, asking me to dream on. the frills of clouds wandering aimlessly with the breeze, the far away twinkle of boat lights, and the vast abundance surrounding my solitude trying to prove this surreal situation. the wind blowing hard against my ears trying to shut all my connections with reality. what is reality and what is meant to be beyond understanding? my logic refuses to convince me now. the world all around me, is tugging threads of my mind in different directions, asking me to believe, accept and still move on. what is one's purpose in here i wonder. when suddenly one fish amongst the so many dead, jumps up alive, trying to wiggle its way into the depth of the sea. the same thing can mean 'life' for one and something totally unimaginable for another. they all strive to live. and yet now they say 'move on'.
